We have three different doorbells from Ring:
- Ring 1 Video doorbell
- Ring 2 Video doorbell
- Ring Pro
The Ring Pro must be wired. For this, you will need to change your transformer. Indeed, normal doorbells usually work on 8-12V, where the Ring Pro needs 24V. The transformer is supplied as standard with the Ring Pro.
The Ring 1 Video doorbell and Ring 2 Video doorbell work with a rechargeable battery. It usually lasts 6-12 months before needing be recharged. You prefer to wire your doorbell? This is possible.
For the Ring 1 we do not recommend wiring it, because unfortunately we have not always heard positive feedback about this. There are no problems for the Ring 2. The Ring 1 and 2 both also work up to 24V, which means that you need a transformer. We have various transformers on our website, and, even though not all of them are stated to be compatible with the Ring, you can assume that if they are up to 24V, they are suitable for the Ring 1 and 2.
To install, replace the current bell transformer for one of 24V. Remove the current doorbell from the wall and install your Ring doorbell instead. Because this job revolves your electric wiring, we recommend having this installed by a professional. We can do this for you. Buy an installation voucher here.
