Power over Ethernet, or PoE, is a technology which allows one network cable (UTP cable) to supply both power and data. For example, some of our cameras work with PoE. So you only need 1 cable for both power and internet connection.
How does this work? A network cable contains eight conductors, four of which are used with a standard connection. PoE technology uses the other four conductors to deliver power. A specific protocol is used to determine whether a PoE device is connected and what power is required.
