Sometimes you have to restart or reset the Nest thermostat if you experience a problem. Nest also indicates this in their support tips.
How do you do this exactly and what is the difference between restarting or resetting?
Restart the thermostat
- All your settings are retained, just like when you restart your phone.
- If the thermostat no longer responds, has problems with the internet connection or is no longer functioning normally, restarting the thermostat is a good first step for testing.
Reset the Nest thermostat
- All or part of the information is deleted, depending on the option you choose here.
- Resetting is useful if you move and want to reinstall your thermostat or if you need to delete your personal data.
